Organization for Cooperation of Railways

The Organization for Cooperation of Railways ( OSShD ) (Russian Organisazija sotrudnitschestwa shelesnych dorog; Организация Сотрудничества Железных Дорог ( ОСЖД ) Chinese Tielu Hezuo zǔzhī ;铁路 合作 组织( Tiězǔ ;铁 组) ) is was established in 1956 in Sofia, headquarters of the Organization Warsaw. In some countries, the abbreviation OSJD or OSZhD is in use. Chairman of the OSShD is Tadeusz Szozda.

The OSShD is an intergovernmental organization in the field of rail transport, which provides for the conclusion and monitoring of agreements and coordination. The main task of the OSShD is the development and improvement of international rail transport, particularly between Europe and Asia, as well as the technical and scientific cooperation between the member countries. In the former CMEA countries and their neighboring countries OSShD also serves as a standardization body. The OSShD plans transcontinental transport corridors and working on the harmonization of cargo legal and technical conditions.

The OSShD has 25 members (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam ) and four observers (Finland, France, Germany, Greece).

After the reunification of Germany remained as an observer in OSShD.
