Organon International

Organon was until 2007 a ​​pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Oss, the Netherlands. Organon was meanwhile a subsidiary of Schering -Plough, which has paid off in MSD Sharp & Dohme / Merck & Co. Inc. in 2009 itself. Best known Organon is for the development of the contraceptive pill. History

Organon was founded in 1923 by van Zwanenberg hall, a director of slaughterhouses. This looking for a way to use offal useful. Together with Ernst Laqueur and Jacques van Oss found a process to extract from the pancreas of pigs, the active ingredient insulin. This first product of Organon was unique.

Under the economic leadership of Van Zwanenberg and the scientific management of Laqueur Organon grew into an international company, which in 1934 already represented in 40 countries through sales offices. At present, Organon research institutions in 5 countries, production subsidiaries in 15 countries and sales offices in 50 countries. With a market of more than 100 countries Organon is the largest pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands.

2002, a part of the headquarters of Oss to Roseland in New Jersey (USA) was moved, where is located the center of the global pharmaceutical industry.

Previously Organon was a subsidiary of Akzo Nobel; 2007 Organon was transferred to the U.S. company Schering -Plough ( transfer effective as of 19 November 2007), in turn, ended its own existence on November 7, 2009, the acquisition by MSD Sharp & Dohme / Merck & Co., Inc..

On 1 July 2008 the brand name Organon disappeared in human medicine: the company and its products have been fully integrated into Schering- Plough. As Schering -Plough of trademark issues, in Germany was not allowed to operate as Schering -Plough, Organon went on the German market in the Schering -Plough companies belonging Essex Pharma. Schering -Plough was acquired in 2009 from MSD Sharp & Dohme (or Merck & Co., Inc.).

Organon products
