Orgburo

Orgbüro was the name for the Organization Bureau of the Central Committee (CC ) of the Communist Party ( CPSU ) of the Soviet Union.

In addition to the more significant Secretariat of the Central Committee and the Politburo since the spring of 1919 was temporarily called Orgbüro. The Organization Office of the Party was elected by the plenum of the Central Committee and was composed of the Central Committee members. Some CC members were active in both bodies. These included, inter alia, Nikolai Krestinski, Joseph Stalin, Jelena Stassowa, Andrei Andreev and Mikhail Tomsky. The Orgbüro soon lost its meaning. The XIX. Congress of the CPSU from 1952 transferred the purely organizational skills of Orgbüros to the Secretariat of the Central Committee and replaced the Orgbüro on.
