Oriental White-eye

The Ganges White-eye ( Zosterops palpebrosus ) is a songbird that lives in open woodlands of tropical Asia from India to China and Indonesia.

At the back and tail of 12 cm long bird is greenish yellow on the head and the throat and colored white on the belly and the dark circles. It has rounded wings and strong legs. In addition to insects include nectar and various fruits for food. The Ganges White-eye is a gregarious bird, which forms large swarms with hundreds of animals outside the breeding season.

During the mating period, the swarms dissolve. The breeding pair builds a deep, cup -shaped nest of grasses in trees, bushes or bamboo thicket. The female incubates two to five pale blue eggs for two weeks. The young birds fledge after twelve days.
