Original Sound Quality
Original Sound Quality ( OSQ ) is a 2002 Steinberg introduced with the audio editing software Wavelab 4 file format for lossless audio data compression.
The format allows for a good starting material compression rates up to 50 %. Thus, it is not comparable to achieve compression method such as MP3 by lossy compression ratios up to 90%. OSQ rather serves the archiving of audio as the daily use.
When you use must be remembered, however, that it is a system developed by Steinberg proprietary format that is not widely supported. An alternative is the free codec FLAC.
