Orin C. Smith

Orin C. Smith ( born 1942 ) is an American manager.

Life and work

Orin C. Smith completed his studies at the University of Washington in 1965 with the bachelor's degree and gained at Harvard Business School in 1967 the Master of Business Administration. From 1969 to 1977, 1980 to 1985 Smith worked for Deloitte & Touche. Meanwhile, Smith was a civil servant of the State of Washington.

1990 Smith started at Starbucks as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to work. In 1994, he was Chief Operating Officer and from 2000 to 2005 Chairman of the Board. Smith led the global expansion strategy of Starbucks. While the activity of Orin C. Smith Starbucks was from a company regional importance in the greater Seattle area to become a global company with more than 6000 branches.

Since 2006, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Walt Disney Company. Furthermore, Smith board member of Nike and the insurance Washington Mutual. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Conservation International and the Board of Trustees of the University of Washington as well as President of the Medical Department of the University of Washington and the Starbucks Foundation.
