Oriol Servià

Oriol Servia i Imbers (born 13 July 1974 in Pals, Catalonia, Spain ) is a Spanish racing driver. He was master of the Indy Lights in 1999. He rode from 2000 to 2007 in the Champ Car series. In 2006 he was runner-up in this championship. From 2008 to 2013 he started, with interruptions, in the IndyCar Series.

Career

Beginnings in motorsport

Servia his motorsport career began in 1988 in karting, where he was active until 1991. In 1993 he moved to Formula racing and was vice-champion of the French Formula Renault Campus. In 1995 he raced in the French Formula Renault and finished the season on top of the sixth. He also appeared in the Eurocup Formula Renault and the French Porsche Carrera Cup. In 1996, Servia in the French Formula 3 Championship. Starting for Winfield he finished the season in fifth place overall and sat down within the team through against Stéphane Sarrazin. 1997 denied Servia for La Filière his second season in the French Formula 3 Championship. Although he won a race in the overall standings, however, he fell back to eighth place and thus was subject to his teammates Franck Montagny. He also competed in one race in the British Formula 3 and was sixth at the Macau Grand Prix.

In 1998, Servia in the North American Indy Lights to Dorricott Racing. With two podium finishes he finished the season off in seventh place in the championship. 1999 Servia denied his second Indy Lights season for Dorricott Racing. He stood on the podium five times and decided the championship ahead of his teammate Casey Mears with 130 to 116 points for themselves. Both pilots remained in the season but without a win.

Champ Car

In 2000, Servia in the CART to PPI Motorsports and was team-mate Cristiano da Matta. With a third place as best result he finished the season in 15th place in the overall standings. Team Intern he lost da Matta with 60 to 112 points. 2001 Servia denied his second CART season for Sigma Autosport who entered only with a vehicle. His best results were two fifth places and he finished the season in 19th place in the Championship match. 2002 Servia began the season at PWR Championship Racing. After the first three races, he left the team and moved for a short time in the Indy Racing League for Walker Racing. He tried to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, but failed. He then returned to the CART and replaced Townsend Bell at Patrick Racing. At the end of the season, he finished with a fourth place as best result on the 16th place in the drivers' standings.

2003 remained Servia at Patrick Racing. With two second places and a third place he achieved three podium finishes. At the end of the season he finished seventh in the championship. After the championship was renamed in Champ Car in 2004, Servia Dale Coyne Racing moved to where he was changing teammates. He chose the internal team duels against all teammates for himself and finished the season with a third place on top of the tenth overall. In 2005 he started the season with Dale Coyne Racing. For the third race Servia joined Newman / Haas Racing to replace the injured Bruno Junqueira, who turned out the remainder of the season. He won the race at the Circuit Gilles -Villeneuve and finished six more races on the podium. By season's end he had to admit defeat and was runner-up only his teammate Sebastien Bourdais.

After Junqueiras return Servia In 2006, within the Champ Car to PKV Racing. With a third place he finished a race on the podium, finishing in eleventh place in the championship. IndyCar Series

After the Champ Car in 2008 with the IndyCar Series merged, Servia moved with his team, which was called from this season KV Racing Technology in the IndyCar Series. He scored five finishes among the top five pilots and he was ninth in the championship.
