Orion International

Orion International, previously Orion Bus Industries and Ontario Bus Industries in Canada and Bus Industries of America and was a North American manufacturer of buses. In 2000 the company was acquired by Freightliner and has since been part of the Daimler AG. Since 2006, she therefore operates as Daimler Buses North America. However, the name "Orion" remained as the type designation for city and intercity buses exist.

History

In 1975, the government created the Canadian province of Ontario, the Ontario Bus and Truck, which was located in Mississauga and produced buses for transport companies in the province. 1981 saw the establishment of the subsidiary Bus Industries of America in Oriskany in the U.S. state of New York.

With the acquisition by Western Star Trucks 1995, the companies were merged and renamed Orion Bus Industries. The name Orion followed by a sequential Roman numeral is used since 1977 for all buses as model name, as well as the Orion III, a renamed Ikarus 286
