Orionette

Orionette is a historic German motorcycle brand.

Was made ​​the German Orionette way the bike was also called, in the years 1921-1925 by the Orion Corporation for motor vehicles in Berlin- Kreuzberg. The company is known for motor vehicles under the name Orionette AG. Chief designer was the engineer Engelbert Zaschka.

Company and history

The first Orionette motorcycle came in 1921 on the market. How large is the production really was, can not say more. The brand name Orionette was known not only in Berlin. The Orion Corporation for motor vehicles was one of the most important companies in Berlin for car and motorcycle of the 1920s.

The now under monument protection complex Industriehof Orange Street Number 6 in Berlin -Kreuzberg was in the 1920s and 1930s corporate location of the Orionette AG for motor vehicles and manufacture of Orionette.

The company built a range of two-stroke engines 129 cc, 137 cc, 148 cc and 346 cc with mainly uniformly constructed engines and two - or three- speed transmissions. The design department, headed by Engelbert Zaschka, also produced some interesting exceptional designs. Among them, a combined two-stroke engines and four-stroke engine with a valve in the crankcase. The Orionette two-stroke engine was also called system Zaschka. The name goes back to Engelbert Zaschka who developed the motor system for the Orionette and constructed.

The two stroke engine consists of an uncontrolled poppet for the inlet in the crankcase (acting like an automatic diaphragm control). Another component is the Kurbelvorverdichtungsraum.
