Oriskany is a village in Oneida County in the U.S. state of New York with 1459 inhabitants ( 2000 census ). It is located about 10 kilometers northwest of Utica.
History
Oriskany is best known for the Battle of Oriskany, which in 1777 took place here.
The town was founded in 1811. Originally, the Erie Canal by Oriskany, until it was moved in the 19th century.
Economy
Daimler operates in Oriskany a work for Orion brand buses. Nearby is the former Oneida County Airport, a regional airport closed in 2007.
