Orji Uzor Kalu

Orji Uzor Kalu (born 21 April 1960 Aba ) is governor of the Nigerian state of Abia.

Kalu attended Christ the King School and the Eziama High School in Aba and the Government College in Umuahia. He studied at the University of Maiduguri, at Harvard University and at the Abia State University. Prior to his election as governor Kalu was chairman of a group operating in several West African countries, belong to, among other things, the airline Slok Air ( today Slok Air Gambia) and the daily newspaper The Sun.

From 1992 to 1993, Kalu House of Representatives deputy. As a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP ), he has 29 May 1999 Governor of Abia. Kalu was known to be a candidate in the presidential elections in April 2007 for the Progressive Peoples Alliance ( PPA). Around the same time, in October 2006, the Nigerian Commission for Economic and Financial Crime ( EFCC ) against Kalus mother and 18 other family members and government officials began to identify; the charge is, among other money laundering, theft, embezzlement and fraud.
