Orkdal

Orkdal is a commune (municipality ) in the central Norwegian county Sør -Trøndelag.

Much of the population is concentrated in the towns of Orkanger and Fannrem at the mouth of the River Orkla in the Orkdalsfjord, an arm of the Trondheim fjord. The main industries are fishing for salmon and agriculture.

From Orkdal the ski jumper Roar Ljøkelsøy, the writer Johan Boii and the football player and coach Nils Arne Eggen come.

One of the best salmon rivers flowing through the Orkdal, namely the Orkla, which gave the valley its name.
