Orlando Smeekes ( born December 28, 1981 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch football player whose ancestors came from the Netherlands Antilles.

Career

In the club

Smeekes played in youth for the Flevo Boys and the Dutch Ehrendivisionär SC Heerenveen.

In 2000 he moved to the second division of the Netherlands on Stormvogels Telstar. There he came to 2003 to 50 inserts ( 10 goals) and went to league rivals FC Volendam 2003. After a season in which he came only two appearances, the attacker moved to TOP Oss, for he 2004/ 05 26 times played ( 2 goals). 2005 to 2007, then Smeekes played at Helmond Sport (48 missions, 9 goals) and 2007/ 08 at the Go Ahead Eagles Deventer (23 inserts, 5 goals ) before he moved to third division side Stuttgarter Kickers in the summer of 2008 to Germany. For the Swabian club Smeekes came to 29 inserts ( 4 goals).

For the season 2009/10 he moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena, where he signed a two-year contract. On the first day of the 2009/10 season Smeekes a free kick about 30 yards scored the goal of the month. For the season 2011/12 moved to Orlando Smeekes league rivals SV labor Wiesbaden, where he signed a contract until 2013.

For the 2012/13 season Smeekes joined together with Delron Buckley to South Africa Maritzburg coach Ernst Middendorp United under.

In the National Team

Smeekes played four times in 2008 for the national football team of the Netherlands Antilles, for the first time on 6 February 2008 in the away game in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup against Nicaragua. After the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles on 10 October 2010 Smeekes plays since then for the national football team of Curaçao. His first international game he played on October 8, 2011 at the home game in the qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup against Antigua and Barbuda.
