Orlin Norris

Orlin Norris Levance ( born October 4, 1965 in Lubbock, Texas) is a former American professional boxer. He boxed in weight classes heavyweight and cruiserweight. From 6 November 1993 to 22 July 1995, he was WBA cruiserweight champion.

Career

Norris began his career boxer in the heavyweight division and moved in 1986 to the professional. In 1988, he was North American champion of the NABF ( North American Boxing Federation). Later he changed the weight class and boxed at cruiserweight. After he also North American champion in 1993, he had the right to the vacant world title WBA boxing. He won this title by defeating Marcelo Victor Figueroa on November 6, 1993 and has successfully defended it in 5 more fights. He lost his title in London by a knockout loss in the 8th round to Nate Miller. Later, Norris went back up to the heavyweight division. He lost an eliminator for the challenge of former world champion Evander Holyfield against Henry Akinwande. In other fights he lost, inter alia, Mike Tyson and Vitali Klitschko.
