Orrin Holt

Orrin Holt ( born March 13, 1792 in Willington, Tolland County, Connecticut, † June 20, 1855 in East Willington, Connecticut ) was an American politician. Between 1836 and 1839 he represented the state of Connecticut in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

After a rather poor primary education Orrin Holt was engaged in agriculture. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party of President Andrew Jackson. Between 1830 and 1832 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Connecticut; of 1835 and 1836 he sat in the state Senate.

After the launch on July 4, 1836 resignation of Congressman Andrew T. Judson, who was appointed to a federal judgeship, Holt was as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. After confirmation from the regular congressional elections of 1836 he was represented between the December 5, 1836 and March 3, 1839 the sixth electoral district of Connecticut in Congress.
