Orselina

Orselina is a municipality in the district of Locarno, in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located above Locarno on the mountainside overlooking Lake Maggiore. The municipality was formerly called ( medievale Concilium ) Consiglio Mezzano. By the year 1881 Orselina and Muralto belonged together.

History

1881 separated the present community Muralto, the seenahe, formerly known as " lower Orselina " from the " Vicinia the Orselina ", which existed as a community since 1803. Even in the decades before the two communities had socially and spatially more and more separated in 2011 failed in a referendum a merger of the municipalities Locarno, Muralto, Minusio, Orselina, Minusio, Mergoscia and Tenero.
