Orval Brewery

Orval (Fr.: Golden Valley ) is a Trappist beer that is brewed since 1932 in the Cistercian abbey of Notre- Dame d' Orval in the Belgian province of Luxembourg.

In addition to five other Trappist Orval only allowed to carry the proprietary label Authentic Trappist Product in Belgium: Achel, Chimay, Westvleteren, Rochefort and Westmalle; and La Trappe and Zundert (since 2013) in the Netherlands and since 2012 Engelszell in Austria.

Beers

There are brewed about 38,000 hectoliters of beer annually. The bottling plant has a capacity of 26,000 bottles per hour.

Sticker

On the bottle label and the beer mat a trout with a golden ring is shown in its mouth, as an illustration of the foundation legend of the abbey. The name Orval derived from " Le Val d' Or" (Golden Valley ) from. According to legend, the Countess Matilda of Tuscany lost in the valley of her golden ring, which was brought back to her by a fish.
