Orzechów, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Orzechów [ ɔʐɛxuf ] ( German Wrechow ) is a village in the municipality Cedynia, powiat Gryfiński, West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland.

Geography

Orzechów located 6 kilometers east of Cedynia, 43 kilometers south of the Powiathauptstadt Gryfino and 63 kilometers south of the province capital Szczecin. The Droga wojewódzka 124 ( voivodeship ) connecting Osinów Dolny Chojna, runs through the village. The town lies on the banks of the Jezioro Orzechów ( German Krebssee ).

History

In 1311, the village was first mentioned. From 1816 to 1945 Wrechow belonged to the district of Königsberg / Neumark. February 3, 1945 Wrechow was occupied by the Red Army. After the Second World War, the village became part of Poland and was named Orzechów.

Culture

In Orzechów there is a Gothic church, which was built in the second half of the 13th century. After the Second World War, it was a wooden tower, as the old, which originally consisted of brick and brass, was heavily damaged in the war.
