The City University of Osaka (Japanese大阪 市立 大学, Ōsaka - Shiritsu daigaku; engl Osaka City University, shortly: OCU. ) Is the largest urban universities in Japan. The main campus is located in Sumiyoshi -ku, Osaka.

History

The origin of the university was the Handelslehranstalt Osaka (大阪 商业 讲习 所, Osaka shōgyō kōshūjo ), which was founded in 1880. 1885, the College in Business School Osaka (大阪 商业 学校, Osaka shōgyō Gakko ) has been renamed. It was in 1889 an urban school.
