Oscar Millard

Oscar Ernest Millard ( born March 1, 1908 in London, England; † December 7, 1990 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American screenwriter and writer.

Life

Oscar Ernest Millard was in England already an established writer, when he was hired after the Second World War by 20th Century Fox as a contract screenwriter. With ... and the heavens laughs to his debut as a screenwriter and three years later he was honored at the Academy Awards in 1952 for his story to be frogmen with a nomination for Best Original Story. By the end of the 1960s he was regularly employed for various film and television productions as an author. Later, he traveled extensively through Europe, mainly through Austria and wrote for different newspapers and news magazines, including the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times travel article.

On December 7, 1990 Millard died at the age of 82 years at his home in Pacific Palisades. After he had swum his daily rounds and had eaten his breakfast in his natural causes of death were noted. He is survived by his second wife Brita, which he had met in Austria, and his niece Anne Marie Krause.
