Oscar Valdés

Óscar Eduardo Valdés Dancuard ( born April 3, 1949 in San Isidro ( Lima) ) is a Peruvian military and politicians. From July 2011 he was a Peruvian Minister of the Interior and from December 2011 to July 2012 the Prime Minister.

Life

In the 1980s, Valdés was a lecturer at the Military Academy of Lima, where he also oversaw the later President Humala as a student. Prior to his political career, he worked as a manager.

On 28 July 2011 he was Interior Minister of his country. On 10 December the same year it 's President Ollanta Humala appointed in place of the retiring Salomón Lerner Ghitis the new Prime Minister. On July 23, 2012 Valdés was dismissed as prime minister after his own responsibility protests against several mining projects have been forcibly terminated. The biggest conflict was at the start of construction of the Conga gold mine of Newmont Mining Corporation in the Cajamarca region, another to a mine license Xtrata in Espinar in the Cusco region. The successor of Juan Jiménez Valdés is Mayor.

Valdés spoke out against negotiations with the guerrilla organization Sendero Luminoso.
