OSE class 120

The OSE - 120 series, also known under the name Hella Sprinter is an electric locomotive class of the Greek state railway from the locomotive family Euro Sprinter Siemens Transportation Systems.

The series was ordered by the Organismos Sidirodromon Ellados, the national railway company of Greece, for their standard gauge and electrified lines. The specifications of the OSE demanded a lightweight of 80 tons (common at that time were about 88 tons).

The locomotives were manufactured by Siemens on the basis of Siemens ES64P. Between 1996 and 2005 a total of 30 locomotives were produced in two model series. The very first series consisted of six vehicles which were put into service between 1996 and 1997, the second production run 24 vehicles, was their commissioning between 2004 and 2005. The locomotives are within Greece both freight and passenger trains in use.
