Osiecznica, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Osiecznica [ ɔɕɛt͡ʃɲit͡sa ] ( German: Wehrau ) is a village and capital of the same rural community in the western part of Poland - about 70 km south of Zielona Góra and 120 km north-east of Dresden in powiat Boleslawiecki the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The community is a member of the euro region Neisse and has about 7000 inhabitants.

History

Rule Wehrau

Wehrau was in the Middle Ages landesherrlichem area in Upper Lusatia. Village

The village Wehrau was a center of glass, iron and paper. The mid-19th century built glassworks was restructured in 1936 to Glasschleiferei Andreas hut. After 1815 Wehrau was in the Prussian part of Upper Lusatia and Silesia region was assigned to the Boleslawiec with the rule villages in 1818.

The construction of the railway between Hirschberg and Sagan got Wehrau 1904 a railway connection. 1825 lived in Wehrau 2500 inhabitants, the village had 400 houses. In 1939 there were only 793 inhabitants.

In Osiecznica, which is part of Poland since 1945, is a branch company of the quartz group works to reduce silica sand for the glass and ceramics industries.

A geological feature is the devil weir, a waterfall of Queis that breaks a rock formation here.
