Oskar Fischer (politician)

Oskar Fischer ( born March 19, 1923 in Asch, Czechoslovakia ) is a former German politician ( SED). He was from 1975 to 1990 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the GDR.

Life

Fischer graduated from 1937 to 1940 trained as a tailor, was then a soldier in the Wehrmacht and 1944-1946 in Soviet captivity.

After his return to Germany he joined the SED and the FDJ and was initially functionary of the FDJ district association Spremberg and FDJ National Association Brandenburg. After the state elections from 1950 to 1951 he was a deputy in the Brandenburg state parliament and chairman of the Committee on Youth, Culture, and Education. 1951 to 1952 he was secretary of the Central Council of the FDJ and secretary of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, since 1952 also a member of the World Youth Council.

1955-1959 was a fisherman Ambassador of the GDR in Bulgaria, followed by Sector Head of the Central Committee of the SED. 1962 to 1965 he studied at the Party School of the Communist Party in Moscow (graduate social scientists ). After that, he was Deputy Minister, Secretary of State, and from 1975 to 1990 as the successor of Otto Winzer Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was also a 1971-1989 member of the Central Committee of the SED and 1976-1990 deputy of the People's Chamber.

Honors

Fischer received the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1973, 1979, the honor Clasp to the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold and in 1983 the Karl -Marx- Orden.
