Oskar Schnirch

Oskar Schnirch ( born September 19, 1902 in Bautsch, Austria - Hungary, † April 5, 1995 in Munich) was an Austrian cinematographer.

Life

He became famous in 1918 as a camera assistant and apprentice of Jacob spot for Viennese art film and filmed two years later responsibly his first documentary. From 1937 he lived in the German Reich.

Schnirch was in the 1930s and 40s with numerous entertainment films behind the camera. An exception in this regard is 1947 only his work for Georg Wilhelm Pabst's postwar debut The process. After the war he lived in Munich and was able to continue his career at the German film. Comedies, hit movies and home movies were his preferred profession. After his 60th birthday, he retired into private life. His urn grave site is located in the forest cemetery in Grünwald near Munich.
