The Oslo Gospel Choir is a 1988 Tore W. Aas founded and guided gospel choir from Oslo, Norway

Music

The Oslo Gospel Choir (often abbreviated OGC ) interprets contemporary gospel music, which is based on American-style, as well as the kind of Christian hymn, choral music, the English is called Worship in the German praise and worship. Frequently, soloists are used. In general, the choir will be accompanied by a band in the occupation keyboard, electric guitar, electric bass and drums, added instruments such as Hammond organ and horn section.

Most of the pieces wrote choirmaster gates W. Aas, but are also traditional American gospel pieces in the repertoire. The lyrics are mostly in English, some albums, however, were also sung in Norwegian and even Dutch and Latin.

Choir

The choir consists of about 30 young singers in SATB ( soprano, alto, tenor, bass ) or SAB (soprano, alto, baritone - all the men singing high position ). The members come from various Christian communities Oslo.

In contrast to " black " American choirs of the appearance of the OGC is quieter: The singers are uniformly dressed in black, do not wear colored robes, the choreography and vocal performance are precisely rehearsed ( but loose), less spontaneous and ecstatic.

Success

OGC occurs predominantly in Norway, but also travels regularly on tour through various countries in Europe (especially Switzerland and Germany ). After the choir had been on a tour of Germany in 2003 and 2006, the end of 2007 was followed by another tour in four German cities.

Overall, the Oslo Gospel Choir W. Aas is considered one of the most influential gospel choirs and goals as one of the most influential gospel European composers whose works will be performed by many other choirs. In Norway is in addition a great popular success, which has been condensed there in four gold albums and one double platinum in. In February 2006, the choir a live DVD and CD participated in the Stravinski Auditorium Montreux on ( "This Is the Day - Live in Montreux "). On 20 November 2008, a tour started in 2008 /09 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary, which then led the OGC first to Austria to Switzerland (Winterthur and Montreux ) and to Germany.
