The mountain 50 km east of the city Kisel extends from north to south about 16 kilometers. The mountain has a wide sweeping shape in general, locally, there are also steep and rocky areas.

Vegetation

The mountain is mostly above the tree line. Up to a height of 750-800 meters, the Osljanka is mostly covered with fir and spruce forest. At higher altitudes, even thrive birches, dwarf pine and plants of the mountain tundra.

Origin of the name

As to the origin of the name " Osljanka ", there are two theories. After a first, the name might come from the adjacent river Osljanka, were recovered from the earlier grinding stones, which are denoted by an old Russian word as " Osla " ( осла ). According to the other theory, the name comes from the shape of the mountain, which recall a tribe and therefore of the Russian word " osljad " ( ослядь ) or " osledina " ( оследина ) could be derived.
