Osobłoga

The Osobłoga ( German Hotzenplotz; Austro Ossa; Czech Osoblažsko ) is a left tributary of the Oder in the Czech Republic and Poland.

Course

The Osoblažsko arises as Petrovický creek on the northern slope of the Kútny vrch ( Laughing Mountain, 866 m) in the Zlatohorská highlands in the Czech Republic. Its identification leads first to the north and turns in Petrovice at the foot of Ďáblův Kopec ( 644 m) to the northeast. In Janov the creek the Leobschützer Lößhügelland reached ( Opavska pahorkatina / Płaskowyż Głubczycki ). At its further course are Jindřichov ve Slezsku, Arnultovice, Vysoká ve Slezsku, Pitárné, Životice, Sádek, Dívčí Hrad, Dolni Povelice, Dubský Mlýn, Ostra Hora and the ruins Fulštejn. From Bohušov flows Osoblažsko the north and parallel to the Polish border by receiving the prudnik at Dolni Mlýn, Nowa Wies Sławoszów and after Osoblažsko where it turns to the northeast and at Studnice. Then, the stream flows on Polish territory and Osobłoga is called. About Racławice Śląskie, Klisinsko, Dzierżysławice, Mokhov, Głogówek and Krapkowice the Osobłoga finally flows into the Oder.

Its catchment area covers 993.2 km ², of which 745 km ² are in Poland.

River names

The river is referred to its headwaters to the confluence with the Mušlov as Petrovický Potok, on the following section of the river it is called Osoblažsko and the German Ossa. The German name Hotzenplotz refers to the river below the confluence of the prudnik ( Brown ). On Polish territory he is called Osobłoga.
