Osprey Osprey I
The Pereira X -28 Sea Skimmer was a single-seat flying boat designer George Pereira of privacy. It was not only known as Sea Skimmer but as I Osprey. The U.S. Navy announced the development of the aircraft by the Naval Air Development Center as part of a study. It should be investigated whether small civilian aircraft would be suitable to carry out surveillance flights in Southeast Asia. This made it necessary that the aircraft was flying under visual flight conditions, was very light, not more than $ 5,000 cost and could be manufactured in Asia. The aircraft was therefore made in wood construction with Sperrholzbeplankung.
The first flight took place on 12 August 1970. The only built copy of Pereira X -28 is at the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum.
