Osrblie

Osrblie ( Tearfall German, Hungarian Cserpatak - to 1882 Oszrblja ) is a small town in Slovakia. It belongs to the district ( Okres ) Brezno and is thus part of the Regional Association Banskobystrický kraj.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1622, is part of the Slovak Ore Mountains and lies at an altitude of about 600 meters above sea level.

Became known Osrblie as a winter sports center. Since the mid- 1990s, the World Cup, IBU Cup and IBU Summer Cup races take place regularly in the biathlon arena. In addition, the small community was the venue for the following Biathlon major events:

  • Junior Biathlon World Championships: 1994
  • Biathlon European Championship: 2012
  • Summer Biathlon World Championships: 1998, 2004
  • Summer Biathlon Championships: 2010, 2012
