Ossa (motorcycle)

Ossa ( Sociedad Anonima Orpheo Sincronic, short OSSA ) was a Spanish motorcycle manufacturer.

History

In the early years after 1924, the company dealt under the direction of Manuel Giro with the production of film projectors and outboard motors. Eduardo Giro, son of Manuel Giro started around 1950 with the production of small two-stroke motorcycles in his father's factory. Towards the end of the 1960s, Mick Andrews rose as a works driver and a technical consultant at Ossa. Eduardo Giro and Mick Andrews developed the MAR ( Mick Andrews Replica ) with which Mick won the victory in the Scottish Six Day Trial. 1972 Andrews left the company and moved over to rival Yamaha. In 1973 Ossa Phantom, a motocross bike before. In the late 1970s, the economy stagnated in Spain it came up the ever increasing influence of the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers in the European market. Ossa did not survive the crisis and in 1984 the gates.

Since 2009, Girona is produced again under the name OSSA Factory and with the familiar logo. The first model of the new era is the trial motorcycle Ossa TR 280i.
