OSSI 1

1 OSSI (Open Source Satellite Initiative) is a South Korean amateur radio satellite.

The satellite was on April 19, 2013 at 10:00 UTC from Baikonur with the Biosatelliten Bion -M1 and the five small satellites AIST 2, Beesat -2, Beesat -3, Dove -2 and SOMP by a Soyuz - 2.1a - rocket launched. His COSPAR designation 2013 - 015B.

Body and Payload

In OSSI 1 is a CubeSat 1U size.

The satellite has a radio beacon in the 2- meter band ( 145.980 MHz) and AX.25 communication in the 70 -centimeter band ( 437.525 MHz). It should flash the signals transmitted by radio amateurs with LEDs in Morse code to the earth. Such an experiment has been realized already with the Japanese satellite FITSAT -1.
