Osteoma

Osteomas are benign bone tumors. You have a slow growth and consist of a localized formation of new bone. Most often they occur in the area of the skull, especially in the sinuses.

Clinic

Since they usually do not cause symptoms, they are often only discovered by chance a certain size increase of the bone. Proved they are often in the X-ray image, where they present shadow giving and sharply defined. With its ivory -like color they stand out often from the rest of the bone tissue. Under the microscope, shows mature and fully mineralized bone tissue arranged in lamellar layering.

Osteomas may indicate an intestinal polyposis ( Gardner 's syndrome).
