Geography
Geographical Location
The neighboring communities are Easter New Forest House, ash, Georgsdorf, Wietmarschen and Nordhorn. In Osterwald there are two streams: the Soermannsbecke and Böltbecke which open later in the Lee.

History
The name Osterwald first appears in documents of the 14th century. The name of the hamlet Old Piccardie goes back to Johan Picardt ( 1600-1670 ).
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Old Piccardie and Hohenkörben ( parish Veldhausen ) were incorporated.
Population
In Osterwald is a part of the local population, mostly older people, still spoken Low German ( colloquially Plattdüütsch or flat / Low German ).
Policy
Parish council
The Osterwalder council is made up of two council women and nine councilors who were last elected in the municipal elections of Lower Saxony in 2011. These have formed a joint election list.
Mayor
Current Mayor Easter Forest is Johann Diekjakobs, who was re- elected in November 2011.
Economy
The main industry in Osterwald is agriculture. Apart from agriculture, the second largest industry is the petroleum industry. Also located in the industrial area several smaller companies, for example, a carpenter, a driving school and a shoe store. Earlier, the petroleum industry was the largest economic factor at the time Osterwald was one of the wealthiest communities in Germany. From this period dates the swimming pool, the ceiling collapsed and since then is no longer used.
Sports
Other than a football field, the n by the BCO eV ( Bolz Club Osterwald ) is used, there is a sports hall, which is mainly used by the SV Veldhausen. Here mainly volleyball, handball, basketball, and football is played. Since the football season 2008/2009 the football section of the Blue-White Hohenkörben again took an active part in league matches.
Culture
In Osterwald there is a petroleum museum and a farm museum. In the village hall next to weddings and other celebrations and theater or musicals for children take place. In addition Osterwald is also a popular place to practice the regional " Kloatscheeten ".
