Ostkaka

Ostkaka ( Swedish cheesecake) is a Swedish cheese cake, which has its roots in Hälsingland and Småland. The cake is traditionally eaten warm or lukewarm with jam and cream, fruit or ice cream.

Recipe

Ostkaka is prepared by the addition of rennet to the milk. In addition to allowed to coagulate casein. After the cake is baked in the oven and served warm.

Since 2004 is celebrated every year on 14 November, the day of the Ostkaka in Sweden. It was introduced and popularized by the Ostkakans vänner ( friends of Ostkaka ), a non-profit association that was founded in the spring of 2003.
