Ostopovice

Ostopovice ( German Wostopowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers southwest of the center of Brno at the outskirts and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Ostopovice located in the Troubsko - Střelická kotlina at the junction of the north-western foothills of the Thaya Schwarza valley floor to Bobravská Highlands. The village is located on the right side of the creek Leskava. South-east rises the Rovný (307 m) and in the south of Urbanův Kopec (334 m). On the northern outskirts of the village the railway line Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou - Brno passes, one and a half kilometers to the west is the railway station Troubsko. North of the village runs the highway D1 / E 55 / E 65, exit 190 Brno- zapad found right at Ostopovice; However, it is only accessible via Stary Liskovec.

History

The oldest written mention of the village was carried out in 1237 together with Troubsko in a document Wenceslas I, recorded as a witness in the Stepan of Ostopovice.
