The Ostorfer Lake is located in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Schwerin in the districts Ostorf and Görries. It is run by a land bridge on the two roads and a railway line, divided into the Upper and Lower Ostorfer lake.

Description

Both lakes are connected by a ditch and were classified polytroph 1997. The water level of Lake Superior is 39.8 m above sea level. NHN 30 cm above the lower lake. Parts of the riparian zones are among the legally protected biotopes.

The seven villages Moor on the southwest city limits is drained since the 1930s about the Herrengraben in the Lower Ostorfer lake. In this context, then, the water level of the lake was lowered by 35 centimeters.

In the Lower Ostorfer sea is the Island of the Dead, also called fir Werder. Here were discovered graves of about 70 individuals from the Neolithic period since the 19th century in the shallow burial of Schwerin Ostorf.

Flora and Fauna

In the area of the water body 32 plant species on the Red List of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, numerous species of birds, including osprey, bald eagles, herons and kingfishers and otters occur.
