Pahutoxin, formerly called Ostracitoxin, is a neurotoxin, which is extracted from the skin mucus of the boxfish ( Ostraciidae ). It acts on the nerve endings and blocks muscle activity.
It was first isolated in 1967 by Boylan and Schever and examined. It belongs to the group of choline and choline esters of ( R )-3- Acetoxypalmitinsäure.
