ÅŒsumi Peninsula

Geographical location

The Ōsumi Peninsula (Japanese大 隅 半岛, Ōsumi - Hanto ) is a peninsula on the southern tip of Kyūshū in Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan.

It is located east of Kagoshima and separates the Pacific Ocean to the east from the Kagoshima Bay in the west, the Satsuma Peninsula is located on the opposite side. The peninsula has an area of ​​2541 km ², the width of 10-20 km and the length 70 km.

Among the municipalities and cities on the peninsula include Tarumizu, Soo, Shibushi and Kanoya.

Since the eruption of the volcano Sakurajima in 1914 this is connected to the Ōsumi Peninsula.
