Osvaldo Dorticós Torrado

Osvaldo Torrado Dorticós ( born April 17, 1919 in Cienfuegos, † 23 June 1983 in Havana ) was a Cuban politician and from 17 July 1959 to 2 December 1976 President of the Republic of Cuba.

Osvaldo Dorticós was a lawyer and member of the Cuban revolutionary 26th of July Movement. In 1958 he was therefore also arrested. He emigrated to Mexico and returned to the victory of the Cuban revolution of 1959 returned to Cuba. In 1976, he was replaced by Fidel Castro as President of the Republic of Cuba, during Dorticós became a member of the State Council. In 1983, he took a shot of life; he suffered from a painful chronic disease of the spine and since a few months before his wife's death occurred in addition to depression.
