Osvaldo Piazza

Oswaldo ( rare in the spelling Osvaldo ) José Piazza ( born April 6, 1947 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine football player and current coach.

In the club

The 1.83 m wide Oswaldo Piazza came to the start of the 1972/73 season from Lanus to AS Saint- Étienne and became part of the team that dominated the top flight in France for years. He began there as a right winger, but was still built by the coach novices Herbin in this first season in the defense against the also debuting at the 1972 ASSE goalkeeper Ivan Ćurković. As Vorstopper he formed together with Christian Lopez, a central defense class and was also dangerous because of its forays into the opposition half in the offensive. Already in his second year, he was at the Verts from Saint- Étienne for the first time French champion, to cup winner and therefore also winner of rolled gold. After seven years on the Loire Piazza returned to his homeland in 1979 and played there for three years for Velez Sarsfield.

In the National Team

Oswaldo Piazza played in the second half of the 1970s 15 caps for the Argentine national team. Coach Menotti called him in the squad for the World Cup in Argentina; for personal reasons had the defender but then before this tournament cancel.

The coach
