The Ossjotr (Russian Осётр, literally translated: "Fault ") is a 228 km long right tributary of the Oka in the European part of Russia.

Course

The Ossjotr rises in the north of Tula Oblast, near Yasnogorsk and initially flows through a very winding intensively farmed landscape in eastern directions. Northeast of Wenjow the river reaches the southernmost tip of the Moscow Oblast. After the Ossjotr Serebrjanyje Prudy has happened, a few kilometers later, he reached the border of the Ryazan Oblast. Here, turn off towards the north.

The river now marks the boundary between the West and Moscow oblasts Ryazan in the east. Around 10 km south of Zaraysk he then flows all the way into the Moscow Oblast.

The river reaches Zaraysk and passes through the city to the west. Furthermore, strongly meandering it flows predominantly in the north by the south-east of Moscow Oblast. Approximately 14 river miles from the city of Kolomna he finally flows into the Oka.

Tourism

The Ossjotr is a popular destination for boaters in the ice-free period from mid- April to November. The river is quiet and flows over long distances in a picturesque wooded valley that is incised up to 30 m deep.
