Otis "Big Smokey" Smothers

Otis "Big Smokey " Smothers ( born March 21, 1929 in Lexington, Mississippi, † July 23, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American blues guitarist and singer.

When Howlin 'Wolf Smothers 1956/57, brought as a rhythm guitarist in the studio, Smothers had a ten -year experience as a blues musician behind. With Howlin 'Wolf he took during this time songs such as Who's Been Talking and Tell Me 1960 Smothers worked with Freddy King together and got a recording contract with Federal Records, where he also made some solo recordings. He published in 1961 his debut album Sings the Backporch Blues.

Except for a single (I Got My Eyes on You, 1968) is now heard for a long time nothing more of Smothers, and 1987 appeared on Red Beans Records LP Got My Eyes on You. On 23 July 1993 Smokey Smothers died in Chicago.
