Otis F. Glenn

Otis Ferguson Glenn ( born August 27, 1879 in Mattoon, Illinois, † March 11, 1959 in Onekama Township, Michigan ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. From 1928 to 1933 he sat for the U.S. state of Illinois in the U.S. Senate.

Biography

Glenn grew up in Illinois in Mattoon. After attending the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, where he studied law, he was admitted to the bar in 1900 and practiced from now in private practice in Murphysboro. From 1906 to 1908 and again from 1916 to 1920 Glenn worked as a prosecutor for Jackson County.

First political experiences gained Glenn in the Illinois Senate, where he held a mandate 1920-1924. After the U.S. Senate the appointment of Frank L. Smith to succeed the late William B. McKinley not recognized and also the regular election of Smith is not recognized, Glenn was elected in a by-election in the U.S. Senate, the term of office of Smith complete. His opponent in the election was the future mayor of Chicago, Anton Cermak. Glenn ran unsuccessfully for another term in the elections in 1932. William H. Dieterich was chosen instead. Also in 1936 ran unsuccessfully against Glenn again Dieterich. After his return from the political stage, he returned to Illinois and he opened a law firm in Chicago.

Glenn died in 1959 in Onekama Township in Michigan. He was married to Anna Martin. The marriage produced a daughter emerged.
