Otis Rush

Otis Rush ( born April 29, 1934 in Philadelphia, Mississippi) is an American blues guitarist.

After moving the beginning of the 1950s to Chicago, Rush soon became a well-known guitarist in the local blues scene. From 1956 he made shots and had two hits in 1957 with All Your Love I Miss Lovin ' and I Can not Quit You Baby by Willie Dixon latter. All Your Love (I Miss Lovin ') was repeatedly gecovert over time by famous bands, including John Mayall on Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore Still Got the Blues and the Steve Miller Band.

In the 1960s, Rush also went on tour in Europe. One of his most famous albums is Moanin ' in the Morning from the year 1968. 1984 he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. In 1999, he won a Grammy for the album Any Place I'm Goin ' in the Best Traditional Blues Album category.

The style of Otis Rush, known as West Side Chicago blues is compared with that of Luther Allison, Magic Sam, Buddy Guy and Albert King. He influenced blues greats like Michael Bloomfield, Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Stevie Ray Vaughan. A special feature is Rush's guitar technique. Rush is left-handed and plays left-handed instruments, but they are strung as a right-handed guitar (see photo right). As a result, the treble strings are on Rush's guitar up and be struck off the tee game first. The same order of stringing was also used by the left-handed guitarist Albert King and also Dick Dale.
