Otokar

Otokar Otomotiv ve Sanayi A.Ş. Savunma earlier Otokar Otobüs Karoseri Sanayi A.Ş., abbreviated Otokar, is a Turkish manufacturer of buses, military vehicles.

In 1963, the first bus was prepared at Otokar. These were for a license production of Magirus -Deutz. In the 1970s, minibuses were included in the program and in the 1980s also began the production of city buses. In the 1980s, the production of military vehicles was recorded. From 1987, the Land Rover Defender will be built under license. In 1992 Otokar acquired the Istanbul Fruehauf AS, and thus took the trailer on production in its product portfolio. Otokar armored vehicles also represents her as the Cobra or the Akrep. In April 2007, Otokar was awarded the contract for the production of a Turkish battle tank. The project is under the name Altay MBT.
