Otoko wa Tsurai yo

Otoko wa yo Tsurai (Japanese男はつらいよ; "Hard bread, to be a man ") is a series of films by director Yoji Yamada.

With 49 sequels in the period 1969 to 1997 the series was in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest movie series for a long time.

Action

All movies are in one uniform pattern.

The main character is Torajiro Kuruma ( Tora -san abbreviated as ), played by Kiyoshi Atsumi.

Tora -san earns his money by street markets various trinkets for sale. His open-minded and cheerful character helps him.

In this work, he comes around all over Japan. Every time he falls in love with a woman in a city that they are visiting. Then he comes back to his family; the lead actress of the film in submerged then again a little later on there.

He regularly arises in relation to the actress clumsy and remains at the end of a likable loser. Hard bread for him.

Effect

The main actor Kiyoshi Atsumi was nominated for his role as Tora -san six times for a Japanese Academy Award, but in no event with success. The series is one of the most successful film series in Japan.
