Ottange

Ottange ( German Oettingen, 1940-44 Ottingen ) is a commune with 2,700 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Ouest and the Canton Fontoy.

Geography

Ottange is located northwest of Thionville on the Luxembourg border at an altitude 295-428 meters above sea level. The municipality covers 15.48 km ².

History

The town was first mentioned in 1051 as Ottingin and belongs since 1766 to France.
