Ottavio Bianchi

Ottavio Bianchi ( born October 6, 1943 in Brescia ( BS), Italy ) is an Italian former football player and coach.

Playing career

In the club

Bianchi played in the youth for the club of his home town, Brescia Calcio. In the 1960/61 season he was 17 years old his debut in the first team, which was playing in Serie B and was strongly relegation threatened. But in the next few years he reached with the team only digit table spaces and rose with her in the season 1964/65 even in the Serie A on. After the club had risen he remained one season there before he moved to Napoli. There he was in his first season fourth in Serie A and played with the team his first international game since the club for the first time took part in the season 1966/67, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. In the following season he was with Naples even runners behind AC Milan. Since Naples but financial difficulties had had to key employees be issued and the team weakened personnel. Therefore, he only reached the middle table spaces with Naples in the league. In the season 1969/70 the team still made ​​international attention, as they reached the final of the English- Italian Cup competition and there 0:3 lost to Swindon Town. In his last season, the team played again for the championship and finished third. From Naples, he joined the League newcomer Atalanta Bergamo. There he stayed for two seasons and then left the club after relegation to the second division again. He then moved to AC Milan and played with the team a good season so far. But in the second half disappointed the team and was only seventh at the end in the league, but could it reach the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup. The finale Milan lost 0:2 against 1.FC Magdeburg. Bianchi left Milan after one season because he failed to meet expectations. There was a brief interlude at Cagliari Calcio in Serie A. In national

During his time at Napoli Bianchi was first nominated along with Antonio Juliano 1966 for the national team. In his first game against the Soviet Union he played from the beginning and was replaced in the 76th minute for Spartaco Landini. His second and last match he played in front of a home crowd at the Stadio San Paolo and won 3:1 against Romania. After these two friendlies he was no longer considered by coach Ferruccio Valcareggi.

Coaching career

His coaching career began Bianchi in the 1976/77 season, when he was appointed at SPAL to player coach. After Bianchi was staying with the club at the end of the season he left the club and also ended his active career. His first position as a coach, he was at AC Siena in Serie C2. In the club he remained one season and finished twelfth. After that he went into the C series for AC Mantova, where he also remained for only one season before moving to league rivals U.S. Triestina. He was fourth in the table and thus achieved its best result so far as a coach. But he also left this club after just one season and moved on to Atalanta, who also played in the C series. Bianchi led the club directly in his first season in Serie B, and was thus able to celebrate his first success. In the B series, the team finished in eighth place and Bianchi was replaced after the season by Nedo Sonetti. For the new season Bianchi had initially found a new club before he signed after the dismissal of Fernando Venerable the U.S. Avellino. Bianchi saved the club from relegation to Serie B, but was replaced at the end of the season by Antonio Angelillo. But by rescuing Avellino he had attracted attention and was therefore obliged to Como Calcio, which he led to eleventh place in Serie A. At the start of the new season, he was obliged by the SSC Naples, where he was also active as a player. In his first season he led the team to third place. In the following season he took the team to superstar Diego Maradona the Double and thus also brought the first championship in club history to Naples. By winning the championship, the Neapolitans had qualified for the European Cup of Champions. But the team failed in the first round at the star-studded Real Madrid. In the league, the team had become the second and therefore took part in next season's UEFA Cup. The team reached the UEFA Cup after wins against Juventus and FC Bayern Munich in the final. This won Naples to return match against VfB Stuttgart with a score of 5:4. After the great international success Bianchi resigned at Napoli and went after a season break for AS Roma, while in Andrea Carnevale followed, which he coached already in Naples. There he won directly in his first season the Coppa Italia and reached the UEFA Cup final, which went against Inter Milan lost. However, in the next it did not go so well and Bianchi left the club. During the next season he replaced Claudio Ranieri in Naples who had fallen in danger of relegation with the team. At the end of the season he reached with the team after all the eleventh place, and thus kept the class. His next engagement was followed a year later, when he took over as coach at Inter Milan. After a mixed first season he was in the second relatively quickly, due to failures, replaced by Luis Suarez. After he finished his coaching career in 2002 and was sports director at Fiorentina.
