History

The newspaper was founded by William Harris as The Bytown Packet in 1845. 1851, the newspaper was renamed in The Ottawa Citizen. The newspaper was located over the years with different owners. 1846 Harris sold the newspaper to Bell and Henry J. Friel. 1849 Robert Bell bought the newspaper in 1849. 1877 Charles Herbert Mackintosh, the chief author Robert Bell was. 1879 took over the Southam newspaper and she added to her portfolio. Was taken up Southam itself from the Conrad Black's Hollinger Inc.. The newspaper I was until 2000 when the Blak 's Holinger Inc. was sold to up to CanWest Global.
